NCBTMB Requirements: 24 hours of continuing education CE every 2 years. Three (3) of the 24 hours must be in research. A maximum of 4 hours may be in self-care and no more than 4 hours of the 24 hours may be in courses less than 2 hours in length. Twenty-four hours (24) of education may be earned through NCBTMB Approved Providers. OnlineCE is an Approved Provider of the NCBTMB (#422983-00).
All NCBTMB required continuing education may be met with online continuing education courses.
The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) is the national governing body responsible for credentialing Massage Therapists. Beginning January 1, 2013, Massage Therapists must renew their certification every 2 years. During that two-year period, Massage Therapists are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education. Three (3) of the 24 hours must be in research. A maximum of 4 hours may be in self-care and no more than 4 hours of the 24 hours may be in courses less than 2 hours in length. Massage Therapist must also complete 100 hours of massage-related work, re-affirm committment to the NCBTMB Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and the Anti-Trafficking Pledge. Recertication also requires passing a thorough national background check and holding a current CPR certificate (training in CPR cannot be included in the 24 hours of CE).
